One militant was killed as the Army claimed to have foiled an infiltration bid in Gurez Sector on Saturday, media reports said.
According to the reports, a weapon has been recovered from the militant so far. The operation is still underway. An Army official told a New Delhi-based news gathering agency that the troops guarding the Line of Control observed movement of militants trying to sneak into the valley from across the border and challenged them. During the brief fire exchange, a militant was killed, said the official.
With the latest operation, the number of militants killed in encounters along the LoC in north Kashmir in the past four days has gone up to 14. An Army jawan also lost his life in one of the encounters.
