Pattan Trauma Hospital to be completed by June 2017

 

Minister for Public Works Naeem Akhtar today said that Baramulla which from ancient times was known as a gateway to Kashmir will regain its pristine glory with a slew of mega-developmental projects being completed within the current year.

The Minister while speaking with people and officials during a daylong visit to the district directed the officials to expedite the developmental work so that all projects are completed within the deadline. The Minister was accompanied by MLA Baramulla Javid Beigh, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, CE R&B and PMGSY and other officials.

The Minister said that Pattan Trauma and General Hospital will be completed by the end of June. The Minister said that the Rs 14.52 cr project has been in the making since 2005 and work on it was stalled till December 2016 when government expedited work on it. The Minster said that the project will benefit a larger section of the society as it will be equipped with all major facilities. At the construction site of Medical College in Baramulla, the Minister was informed that the work on Rs 139 crore project is going apace and the first floor will be completed in next two months.

The Minister directed the officials to complete the vital 68 mts Peernia bridge in Uri by August 2017. At Kitchama the Minster announced that the road from National Highway to Kitchama High school will be upgraded.

The Minister announced that work on Rs 20 cr road spanning 22km from Zeenpora to Shahadhra Sharif in Uri will be started soon. He said that it will go a long way in developing a parallel road on the other side of river Jhelum. The Minister also visited Government Polytechnic College Kanispora and directed the officials to complete the Rs 13 crore project within the stipulated timeframe. The Minister also inspected the widening work of Ladoora-Achabal Sopore road costing Rs 17.11 crores. The Minister directed the officials to develop certain spots along the road for recreational purposes.

The Minister also held a review meeting on the status of various developmental projects in the district. The meeting was also attended by MLA Tangmarg Abbas Wani. The Minister said that various road projects have been taken up in the district for strengthening the road connectivity and provide hassle free movement of traffic to people.

He directed the officials to formulate a three year traffic decongestion plan for the Baramulla town, wherein the first year will be earmarked for removing all bottlenecks The Minister said that in the second year more work will be conducted and by the end of the third year entire picture of Baramulla would have been changed. He said that people should feel the difference in next three years.
