Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar on Friday slamed the Bollywood actor Anupam Kher for criticising his recent meeting with Hurriyat leaders, reports said.

Aiyer while taking a dig at the actor said that, Kher lives in a mansion in Bombay and has not visited Kashmir to take stock of the situation for decades.

‘You think I didn’t expect it. This is a democratic country. He lives in a mansion in Bombay and I don’t think he has been to Kashmir for decades. If in his illiteracy he wishes to criticize me then I welcome his criticism and I will give a response to the people of Kashmir” , Aiyer said.

Anupam Kher had  earlier condemned Aiyar’s meeting with Separatist leaders, saying, “Representations of some political parties insult us by meeting certain Hurriyat leaders.”

In an effort to resume dialogue with the stakeholders in Kashmir, five-member delegation led by Aiyar on Thursday called on moderate Hurriyat chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and discussed ways to calm down the protestors.
