Cop joins militant ranks

Constable Syed Naveed Mushtaq had fled with four INSAS rifles from the guard post at a FCI go-down in Chandpora in Budgam on Saturday, a police official said.

    Besides police confirmation, militant outfit Hizbul Mujhadeen also confirmed the entry of police constable into the militant organization. A spokesperson of the Hizb, Burhanuddin told a local news gathering agency that Syed Naveed Mushtaq has formally joined the outfit.

“We salute his valour and bravery. The Operational Field Commander of the outfit has declared a reward for him,” the spokesperson said.

    Pertinently, Constable Naseer Ahmed Pandit, a resident of Pulwama district had also joined militant outfit Hizbul Mujhadeen after he had decamped with two AK rifles on March 27, 2015 from the residence of PDP Minister Altaf Bukhari. Pandit, a resident of Karimabad Pulwama was killed in April 2016 in a gunfight with government forces in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
