Illegal soil extraction ongoing unstoppably in Budgam

Despite ban imposed by the administration, illegal extraction of soil, bajri and sand is going on unstoppably on the Karewa hills in Central Kashmir’s Budgam .

State’s Land Revenue Act’s Section 133- categorically bans any kind of soil excavation for personal gains; however, the process is going on without any check

The resident of the area said that “land mafia is active to vandalize the natural Karewas,”

Presently according to the locals, soil, bajri and sand are being excavated from the district’s famous “Mamath Wudder” during odd hours to avoid any official intrusion.

“Scores of Tippers are ferrying soil to other places without any fear in broad day light,” residents added.
