While following the Joint Resistance leadership’s call for peaceful protests post Friday prayers, scores of youth in Sopore town of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district staged the protest, sources said.

According to the reports, soon after Friday prayer scores of youth assembled near Markazi Jamia Masjid area of Sopore town and started shouting pro-freedom and anti-govt forces slogans against the continues detention of students and other youths.

Witness said that the protesters started pelting stones on forces already deployed in Main Bazaar area of town who in turn retaliated by lobbing tear smoke shells to disperse  the protesters.

Meanwhile, clashes spread to other parts of the town triggering shutdown in the area.
