Pakistan:5 killed as Maulana Ghafoor Haideri’s convoy comes under attack in Mastung

At least five people were killed and Pakistan Deputy Senate Chairman Maulana Ghafoor Hyderi sustained injuries on Friday as his convoy came under attack in Mastung area of Quetta, media reports said.

According to the reports,  several others were also reportedly injured in the roadside blast.

Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri was returning from an event at a seminary near the site of the blast. JUI-F leader Maulana Abdul Malik said the deputy chairman had been injured in the blast, Geo News reported.

The blast also damaged a number of vehicles parked on the road causing panic in the area.

The deputy senate chairman has been shifted to a nearby hospital.

Abdul Ghafoor Haidri, the deputy chairman of the upper house,  is a senior member of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F).

According to the latest television reports, 17 people have been killed and around 30 people were injured in the blast.
