Four JK players make it to National Coaching Camp of Taekwondo

Four players from J&K state have been selected for the National Coaching camp of Taekwondo which will be organised by School games federation of India at Delhi.

The players were selected after they participated in selection trails for the World School Games, held recently at Tyagraj Stadium New Delhi. The trials were organized by School Games Federation of India.

In the selection trail, J&K Taekwondo Players including two girls and two boys outshined others with their performance.

Aryan Gupta secured 2nd place in under 45kg, Ajay Kumar Secured 2nd place in 51 Kg, Afreen Hyder Secured 2nd Place in 59 Kg and Shah Barrera Fatima secured 2nd place in under 68kg. All the four players lost their matches in a closely fought contest.

While talking to Kashmir Vision, Atul Pangotra who is presently working with J&K State Sports Council and Youth Services & Sports as Taekwondo Coach termed the selection of the players as a good omen.

‘It is a moment of pride for me as well as the state,” Pangotra said.

Importantly, Pangotra who has acted as an International referee was invited by School Games Federation of India (SGFI) as Selector cum Selection Committee member.

“It is for the first time that international School Games Federation conducted Taekwondo event and our four players were selected for National Coaching camp. This is proud moment for youth Services & Sports Department as well for J&K State Sports Council and J&K Taekwondo Association,” Atul said. 

 Atul said Taekwondo is a world-recognised game and this game is becoming famous among budding sportsmen of our state. They need proper guidance and well-developed and advanced infrastructure.

Seeking support for the young players, he said that the government should initiate steps to provide the players better coaching facilities.

Meanwhile, J&K Taekwondo Association Chairman Anil Gupta (Annu) President  P.C. Sharma, General Secretary  D.N Pangotra and Vice President Nissar Hussain appreciated and congratulate all the players and Coach Atul Pangotra for their new achievement in Taekwondo game.
