Chairman, Hurriyat (G), Syed Ali Geelani has expressed grief over civilian killings in Qazigund shootout and has extended his condolences to the bereaved families.

Geelani, as per the statement issued today, has “blamed stubborn attitude of Indian authorities for continuous bloodshed & said that since last several decades, people in state are facing war-like situation.”

On the direction of Hurriyat (G) chairman district president, Farooq Ahmad Shah participated in funeral prayers of slain youth in Qaimoh, while as assistant general secretary, Gh Nabi Sumji was placed under house arrest and according to the statement was barred from participation in the funeral prayer.

As per statement Geelani has said that “the situation in state is taking a bad turn with each passing day and that Indian authorities rely on their military might to suppress people’s aspirations and muzzle voices.” Justifying the resentment from youth, Geelani said that “our youth are taking arms to put an end to slavery and this barbarity.”

Taking dig at J&K police, Geelani said that “Police, to prove that they are relevant and more loyal, surpassed all limits, while inflicting atrocities.

“We want peace, however, it is Delhi that is denying our right and creating hurdles. It is actually India that can play a key role in bringing the peace in sub-continent, however, bold measures are needed to resolve this pending issue.” the statement said.
