Rajnath chairs high level meet, says 19 thousand Cr released from PM’s package

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh Thursday chaired an inter-ministerial meeting in New Delhi. The meeting was held to review the situation in Kashmir, reports said.

Later the HM held another meeting to review the implementation of development package announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the restive state.

Officials of the Home Department, Intelligence Bureau, Central Reserve Police Force and Border Security Force attended the meeting reports said.

Pertinently, the meeting has been convened when students across Kashmir Valley have upped the ante and have been protesting against forces action of targeting students who were beaten by army men in Pulwama. The protests had led to closure of schools and colleges across Kashmir besides, the government has also banned social media for one month.

Speaking during the meeting, the HM said that Rs 19,000 crore have been released by  the Government of India (GoI) out of the Rs 80,000 crore development package for Jammu and Kashmir. The package was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015.

25 per cent of funds, it was revealed in the meeting, from the total package, around Rs 19,000 crore, has been released so far and related works were going on, reports quorting officials officials said.
