Thousands of people on Sunday thronged Patrigam village in Budgam district to offer their condolences to the family of the slain militant who was killed in a gunfight in Hyatpora village on Saturday.

Barely six Kilometres from Chadoora, this Budgam village was the native place of one of the two militants, killed during the Saturday encounter.

Draped in green cloth body of Younis Maqbool Ganie was carried by the youth amid, pro-freedom slogans and hailing the “martyr.”

Women watching the funeral procession with moist eyes showered almonds on the coffin.

Younis, as per reports, had recently joined the militant ranks.

The funeral was attended by the separatist leaders including Tehreek-e-Hurriyat general secretary, Mohammad Ashraf Sehraie.
