Mairaj-ul-Alam to be observed today

 

Kashmir Valley is observing Mairaj-ul-Alam Monday, while the holiday marking the day will be observed on April 25 instead of April 24.

An official spokesman said that in partial modification of Government Order No: 1345-GAD of 2016 dated: December 19, 2016, the holiday on account of Shab-e-Mairaj shall be observed on 25 April 2017 (Tuesday), instead of 24 April 2017 (Monday) in the government offices and educational institutions of the State.”

Big religious congregations are being held across the state at various shirnes. The biggest congregation will be held at Hazratbal shrine located on the banks of the Dal Lake. Thousands of devotees, comprising men and women converge at the shrine throughout the day and late evening. The relics are displayed five times after every prayer. Devotees offer prayers and recited Holy Qur’an at the shrine for atonement of their sins.

Congregations are also held at Asar Sharief Lal Bazar, Jenab Saheb Soura, Kalashpora, Syed Sahib-Sonwar, Shopian, Makhama-Beerwah and Charar-i-Sharief.

Meanwhile, an official spokesman said that all arrangements have been put in place at major shrines in the state and traffic plan has been framed to manage vehicular rush during the day and evening.
