Police arrested a bootlegger and recovered illicit liquor from his possession, a police spokesman said.
He said that acting on a specific information, a police party of Police Station Bijbehara headed by SHO Bijbehara Arshid Ahmad laid a Naka near Eidgah crossing Bijbehara.
During naka checking one person identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Sadeeq Dar resident of Reshi Bazar Anantnag was intercepted. On checking 17 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from his possession.
A case FIR number 45/17 under section 48F Excise Act was registered and investigation was taken up.
