SRTC employees stage protest, demand regularization of services

The State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) employees on Monday staged a protest against the government for ‘failing to regularize them from past several years.’

Scores of SRTC employees assembled at Srinagar’s Press Enclave and chanted slogans like ‘we want justice’.

The protesters said that from past several years, the government is making tall promises regarding the regularization of their services but unfortunately not even a single promise has been fulfilled.

“We are on streets today to protest against the failures of the government in regularizing our services. We have been urging the successive regimes to regularize our duties but unfortunately our plea went in deaf ears. We went from pillar to post to seek justice but unfortunately all in vein,” the employees added.

They alleged that the officer in the SRTC had raised his voice against the government over the demands of employees but unfortunately, he was transferred by the authorities with an aim to muzzle the voices of employees.

Threatening to launch agitation against the government, the employees said, “We will take streets against the government in case they failed to regularize our services at earliest.”
