Monga condemns use of force on college students

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress (JKPCC) Vice President and MLC G N Monga Monday condemned the use of force on students who were protesting against the security forces action on Degree College Pulwama students last week.

In a statement issued here, he said day-by-day situation in Kashmir is worsening while the PDP-BJP government is in deep slumber.

“Situation has reached to a point where even now students in colleges aren’t being spared. Youth is the future of any nation, but unfortunately this government is targeting them,” Monga said.

Stating that the present situation was reminiscent of 1990’s, he said, “Even then (in 1990’s) students were not targeted by security forces in educational institutes as is being done today. The use of force against students must be a matter of concern for the every right thinking person of this country,” Monga added.

He said the Mehbooba Mufti government has failed on all fronts and demanded imposition of Governor’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir immediately.

“The worsening situation is evident from the large scale violence and the unprecedented lowest ever poll percentage in recently held by-poll to Srinagar Lok Sabha seat. Subsequently, the killings of civilians, using force on civilians as was evident from some videos circulated on social media, indicate that this government has failed on all accounts and the only way out this time is imposition of Governor’s rule in the state without any further delay,” the Congress leader demanded.
