Youth shot dead in Batamaloo, police says probing the incident

A youth was shot dead, allegedly by troopers of the Border Security Force (BSF) on Saturday evening in SDA colony of Batamaloo area. Police, however said that there was no deployment in the area and they are investigating the case.

The young man identified as Sajad Hussain Sheikh of Chundoosa Baramulla, presently living in SD Colony, Batmaloo, was killed when he was walking on the road.

Reports said that the injured youth was rushed to nearby SMHS hospital, however hospital sources said that the youth was declared as brought dead.

They said that another youth has also suffered injuries in the incident.

SSP Srinagar Imtiyaz Ismail Parray said that a youth has been killed in the interiors of Batmaloo locality where there is no deployment of forces.

“We are investigating the incident. And to clear, there is no deployment of police or CRPF in the interior of the locality,” he said.

Meanwhile, Police is collecting the details and is looking into the circumstances under which a person identified as Sajad Hussain Sheikh of Chandoosa Baramulla at present S D Colony Srinagar got killed.

Pertinently, the firing incident triggered a crisis situation in Batamaloo arae. People closed their business and are on the road. Tensions are up. At a few places, there were tear smoke shells being fired at people.

Eyewitnesses said that protests were being held in the entire area till late in the night.
