Punish soldiers involved in making youth as human shield: Tarigami

The Polit Bureau of the CPI (M) Saturday expressed its deep outrage over reports of a Kashmiri youth being tied atop a jeep belonging to central security forces ostensibly to be used as a shield against stone-pelters.

Pertinently, 26 year old Farooq Ahmad Dar is reported in media to have said that he has never been a stone pelter and works on embroidering Kashmiri shawls.

“Though the J&K Chief Minister has announced an enquiry, those responsible for this outrage of parading a Kashmiri youth tied to a jeep through 8-10 villages must be made accountable and punished,” Tarigami said in a statement issued here.

This incident followed the anger evoked over a video that went viral on social media showing stone-pelters heckling and attacking CRPF personnel who was discharging election duties. The CRPF has since filed a police complaint and three Kashmiri youth have been arrested.
