Driver killed in stone pelting leaves family in distress

The elderly driver who was killed after being hit by a stone on Monday evening is survived by aged wife, two daughters and an unemployed son. The family lives in a tin-shed at Qamarabad Barthana area of Qamarwari Srinagar.

 Ali Muhammad Dagga son of Ghulam Qadir (55) according to police died after protesters hit his minibus (JK01D-5095) with stones at Tengpora Bypass. He lost the control over the vehicle and collided with an electric pole. He was rushed to hospital where he breathed his last.

 The deceased driver was laid to rest on Tuesday amid pro-freedom slogans. The poor family still believes their head is alive. “He was the sole bread earner for us. We don’t know what will happen to us now,” her wailing daughter told CNS.

 “My mother and sister are mentally unsound and now our brother is only hope for us,” she added. Pertinently, few years back, a mentally challenged person from Natipora was killed after he was hit by a stone near Batamaloo Srinagar.
