SHOPIAN: SKUAST-K conducted a daylong workshop on the ‘Significance of Pollination in Enhancing Fruit Production’ here on Wednesday, according to an official spokesperson.

Research and Training Centre for Pollinators, Pollinizers and Pollination Management (RTCPPPM), SKUAST-Kashmir, Shalimar conducted the workshop on ‘’Significance of Pollination in Enhancing Fruit Production’’ Wednesday under the Niche Area of Excellence Project-II entitled ‘’Pollination Management in Apples and other Fruits in Kashmir Valley’’ sponsored by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi.
A huge number of Orchardists, Farmers, Panchayat Raj Institutions, Fruit Growers Association members and officers from various Departments of the State participated in the said workshop.
The Scientists Associated with project delivered their presentations and highlighted the importance of Pollination in Enhancing Fruit Production. They stated that this dimension of productivity need to be readdressed and mechanisms are being adopted for managing pollination in apple and other fruits for better quality in terms of size, shape and colour as well as increased productivity.
