Jama’at condemns attack on Kashmiri prisoner

SRINAGAR: Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday strongly condemned the attack by criminal elements on incarcerated Kashmir University student, Mohammad Rafiq Shah, in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail.
In a statement, Jama’at spokesman, Advocate Zahid Ali, said that the attack on Shah, “who is lodged in Tihar Jail since 2005, has once again proved that Kashmiris are nowhere safe in India, even within the four walls of high security prisons.”
Jama’at while condemning the attack has expressed profound concern over the safety of Kashmiri detainees held in different Indian jails and appealed international prisoners’ rights bodies to take cognizance of this worrying situation.
