Mansbal trout feed mill operational

SRINAGAR: The department of Fisheries, has started to supply trout feed from the its newly established Trout Fish Feed Mill at Manasbal with the department now saying it is in a position to meet export orders.

The mill  established at the National Fish Seed Farm Manasbal has been imported from Netherland  that produces the highly nutritious  food for trout in the extruded pelleted form (floating type) that give trout more time to feed, minimizing  chances of wastage.
The new facility has not only augmented the feed supply  to suffice the need of   local trout farmers, but the department also has been getting supply orders from department of livestock Royal Government of Bhutan for supply of this feed.
The highly automated machine has the potential to churn a ton of feed just in an hour with the department  not saying that it will not only meet the requirement of the our state, but the department can also export it to the other states of India and to the neighboring Asian countries also where trout farming takes place.
Experts feel that as rainbow trout farming is picking up in the Valley, the supply of nutritious feed will improve the future production.
The machine will produce sufficient supplies that where so far being met by older variant installed by the department at Kokernag, where it was installed three decades ago.
