Jammu: In an unprecedented move, Governor NN Vohra Wednesday ordered the state government to present the reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India in the state legislature during its current budget session.
Vohra issued the order in pursuance of Article 151(2) of the Constitution for laying before the state legislature, the reports of the CAG on Appropriation Accounts 2012-13, Finance Accounts 2012-13, (Volume-1 and Volume-2), State Finances for the year ended March 31, 2013, and on Revenue Sector and Public Sector undertakings for the year ended March 31, 2013, a Raj Bhawan spokesman said.
On February 19, Subash Chander Pandey, Principal Accountant General of JK, had called on the governor at Raj Bhavan here to explain the salient features of the JK audit report for the financial year 2013-14.
Pandey also briefed Vohra about the mechanisms which have been put in place for promoting excellence in the J-K public sector through the functioning of the audit and accounting services, speedy settlement of pension cases, etc.
The governor discussed with Pandey the need for giving the highest priority to the maintenance of financial probity and fiscal discipline in government departments along with complete transparency in personnel management at all levels.
