Jammu: Minister of State for Home Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo Tuesday informed the Legislative Assembly said that 3057 candidates have been appointed during special recruitment drives conducted in the police department from 2008 to 2013.
Replying to a clubbed question by Abdul Haq Khan, T. Namgyal, Suknandhan Kumar and Sham Lal Choudhary, the Minister informed that special recruitment drives are conducted by the Police Department pursuant to the Cabinet decision with a view to giving representation to the eligible candidates in the areas which are relatively underrepresented in the Police Department. He said such drives in other eligible areas would be conducted at an appropriate time.
The Minister informed that a proposal for enhancement of the honorarium of SPOs from the exiting Rs 3000 to Rs 5000 per month has been submitted to Union Ministry of Home Affairs for concurrence, which is awaited. He said the matter is being pursued vigorously with the Centre for favorable consideration.
