NHPC directed to pay `5 lakh each to affected families in Kralpora

SRINAGAR: District Development Commissioner, Bandipora has asked the implementing agency (NHPC) of Kishan Ganga Hydroelectric Project to pay Rs 5 lakh to the families which have lost their properties at Kralpora village here, according to an official statement issued on Friday.
To discuss various issues with regard to ongoing Kishan Ganga Hydroelectric Project at Kralpora-Bandipora, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Bandipora, Shah Faisal here, which decided about the compensation.
The meeting was informed that a tentative assessment of Rs 5 lakh has been done about the loss of property due to the activities of the project for which the District Development Commissioner directed the concerned agency for paying to the affected families, the statement said.
It was told that 755 kanals of land was acquired for the project in the said village. While discussing the RR Plan, the District Development Commissioner stressed for execution of taken up development works as soon as possible so that basic amenities are provided to the affected people.
