Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Football Association, the custodians of the sport in the state, have hailed Sports Minister Taj Mohidin, for putting efforts to secure hosting rights of a high profile soccer tournament that will be held in the Valley this year.
The J&K sports minister said on Thursday that Centre had agreed suggestion of the J&K government to host a mega football event in Kashmir this season. The suggestion to hold such a football tourney, according to the official press release, was mooted by Taj, which was approved by Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

It is also learnt that Kashmir has also been allocated hosting rights of Federation Cup, a premier fixture in Indian soccer calendar.
JKFA wants J&K State Sports Council to make sure repair & maintenance work of Bakshi Stadium and Polo Ground-earmarked venues for the tourney-is started sooner than later.
