Kashmir student harassed at Haryana varsity

Hisar (Haryana): A student from Jammu and Kashmir was allegedly harassed by two of her classmates of Guru Jambeshwar University of Science and Technology, but the varsity Wednesday  maintained that the issue had been “amicably resolved”.
The woman, a final year student of MSc Environment, had complained a few days ago that the two students had been threatening her of dire consequences for not agreeing to go on a private tour to Jaipur in which three girls and seven boys had taken part last week.
The health of the woman, who is a boarder, had suddenly worsened yesterday and she was admitted in a local hospital for a few hours, varsity sources said.
The university’s Proctorial Board today summoned the two male students and the relatives of the woman, the sources said, adding that they apologised for their misconduct and the woman withdrew her complaint against them.
Public Relations Officer of the university, Bijendar Dahiya, said “the issue has been amicably resolved”.— PTI
