People from across the Valley thronged the shrine throughout the day to have a glimpse of the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) which was displayed after every prayer.
However, the biggest gathering was witnessed during the Friday prayers with more than fifty thousand people converging at the shrine and its adjacent sprawling lawns along the banks of Dal. People offered ‘Durud’ and recited the Holy Qur’an on the occasion.
Besides Hazratbal, congregational prayers were also held at Asarisharif Kalashpora, Jenab Sahib Soura, Lal Bazaar, Punjura Shopian, Khiram Sirhama Anantnag, Seer Hamadan, Kaba Marg, Qaimoh, Ahamshrief Bandipora and Hazrat Janbaz Wali (RA) Baramulla. Nightlong prayers were held across the Valley where imams threw light on the life of the Prophet.
Over a thousand private transport vehicles and State Road Transport Corporation buses ferried the devotees to and fro Hazratbal while the authorities had enforced different traffic plans to ensure smooth movement.
