Class 12 results out; 48% fail to qualify

SRINAGAR: The J&K State Board of School Education on Thursday declared the results of Class 12 examinations with little more than half of the enrolled students qualifying the exams.
According to result notification, 51,391 students had appeared in the examination, and 20,019 students will have to reappear in the examination this year while around 4609 have been declared unsuccessful.
Eighty-eight students have jointly secured first 10 positions in the Science stream. Haroon Farooq of Muslim Educational Institute Pampore has secured second position with 98 per cent marks.
In Arts stream, Iram Sheikh of Government Higher Secondary School Baramulla has secured 485 marks. Ten girls and three boys have secured first ten positions in this stream.
In Commerce, Dhan Kumari of Government Higher Secondary School, Amira Kadal here, has topped with 489 marks. Seventeen other students have secured first ten positions in Commerce.
And, in Home Science, Bintul Islam of Jamiat-ul-Banat, Lal Bazaar has secured 474 marks followed in ranking by 10 other girls from the same institute.
