Karatey to join breakaway Hurriyat (M) faction?

Srinagar: The Hurriyat Conference Jammu and Kashmir , formed recently by Shabir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Khan and other pro-freedom leaders after parting ways with the Mirwaiz Umar-led Hurriyat , Wednesday said it was discussing the possibility of JKLF (R) chairman Farooq Ahmad Dar aka Bitta Karatey joining the party.
In a statement, the party termed as “encouraging” Karate’s participation in a meeting also attended by Shah, Khan, Mahaz-e-Azadi president Muhammad Iqbal, Islamic Political Party chairman Muhammad Yusuf Naqash and Muslim Conference chairman Shabir Ahmad Dar Wednesday.
“During the meeting, the present political situation was thoroughly discussed and it was observed that despite atrocities unleashed on Kashmiri people by the occupational forces, Kashmiris are brimming with the spirit of freedom and therefore it’s is the responsibility of pro-freedom leaders to foster ideological unity in achieving our goal and take the mission of martyrs to its logical conclusion,” the statement said.
“Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir also called for a complete shutdown on January 26 to mark India’s Republic Day as a ‘black day’ to remind international community of the resistance and sacrifices offered by Kashmiris for their freedom,” the statement said.
