Old shell found in a Handwara village, defused by police

BARAMULLA: Police on Saturday spotted an old rusty shell in a Handwara village and later defused it. Officials said that some local people of Wadora village of Handwara spotted an old rusty shell along the banks of a local stream and informed the Handwara police accordingly who reached the spot and defused it successfully.
They said it might be a year old shell in the mud which was spotted by local people of the area who informed the Handwara police.
It is not the first incident; in the past several people mostly children were killed and injured due to such shells in Handwara, Kupwara and Uri areas.
