SRINAGAR: A couple from Chhattisgarh, Mr. Ravi Pangwani and his wife, who lost a bag containing an Apple iPhone, cash, jewellery, and crucial documents during a significant congestion at the Baltal X-ray point on July 3 at approximately 8:00 PM, had their belongings recovered within 30 minutes through the swift action of the Security Kashmir Team and CCTV monitoring.
During the disarray caused by a large influx of pilgrims at the X-ray point, the couple reported the loss of their bag and insisted on remaining at the location until its recovery. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the Security Kashmir Team enlisted the assistance of the CCTV monitoring team, which identified an individual removing the bag from the frisking point.
Local tent operators subsequently identified the individual as Mr. Gh Rasool, who also operates a tent at the base camp. Security Wing personnel located Gh Rasool within 30 minutes, and the bag was recovered from his tent, where a group of eight pilgrims led by Mr. Arun Pladha from Madhya Pradesh were residing.
Upon investigation, it was determined that Mr. Gh Rasool had inadvertently taken the bag along with the luggage of his guests, and it had been stored with other pilgrim bags in his tent. The bag was subsequently returned to the couple, who verified the contents.
The couple expressed profound gratitude to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, especially the Security Kashmir Team, for their instrumental role in the recovery of their belongings.
