SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum (JKReTTF) on Saturday held an impressive oath-taking ceremony at the Club Building, WMDA Mansbal, where Khalid Rafeeq Bhat was formally administered the oath of office as the Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum (JKUT).
The oath ceremony was attended by prominent leaders of teachers’ organizations, office bearers, district presidents, state executive members, district executive members, zonal presidents, and representatives from across Jammu and Kashmir.
Chairman of the Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC), Wajhat Durani, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Among the distinguished guests present were Shiv Dave, Vice Chairman JKReTTF JKUT; Rajesh Pal Singh, UT President JKReTTF JKUT; Bashir Ahmed Mir, UT General Secretary JK Teachers Forum, National Executive Member of the All India Secondary Teachers Federation (AISTF) and senior leader of EJAC; Rahi Irshad, former Senior Vice President JKReTTF JKUT; Karnail Singh, UT Spokesman; Altaf Hussain Bhat, Chief Election Commissioner JKReTTF JKUT; Mohammad Yaqoob Bhat, District President Baramulla; Mushtaq Ahmad Hajam, District President Bandipora, besides other senior leaders and delegates.
The proceedings of the function were conducted by Reyaz Ahmad Ganai, District General Secretary, Baramulla, who efficiently performed the role of Dais Incharge, ensuring the smooth conduct of the oath-taking ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Wajhat Durani congratulated the newly sworn-in Chairman and expressed confidence that under the leadership of Khalid Rafeeq Bhat, the Forum would work with greater unity and determination to resolve the long-pending issues of Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers. He emphasized the importance of a strong and united teachers’ movement in safeguarding the rights and dignity of educators.
Speaking on the occasion, Khalid Rafeeq Bhat thanked the members of the Forum for reposing faith in his leadership. He reaffirmed his commitment to work with honesty, transparency, and dedication for the welfare of Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers across Jammu and Kashmir. He said his priorities would include pursuing the genuine demands of teachers, strengthening the organization at every level, and ensuring constructive engagement with the government for the resolution of pending issues.
Earlier, Chief Election Commissioner Altaf Hussain Bhat highlighted the election process, stating that the Election Commission had issued the notification on May 22, 2026, inviting nominations for the post of Chairman. As per the election schedule, June 2, 2026, was the last date for filing nominations. Only one nomination was received from Khalid Rafeeq Bhat. After scrutiny and verification, the nomination was found valid and in accordance with the prescribed rules. Since no other candidate filed nomination papers, Bhat was declared elected unopposed as Chairman of JKReTTF JKUT.
The Chief Election Commissioner said the entire election process was conducted in a free, fair, transparent, and democratic manner, reflecting the confidence and trust of the members in the leadership of Khalid Rafeeq Bhat.
Speakers from various districts congratulated the newly elected Chairman and pledged their full support in strengthening the Forum and collectively working for the protection of teachers’ rights and the advancement of the education sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks, with participants expressing hope that the new leadership would further enhance the unity and effectiveness of the organization while vigorously pursuing the aspirations of the teaching fraternity.
