SRINAGAR: Mohammad Aijaz Asad, Secretary of the Rural Development Department (RDD) and Panchayati Raj, on Thursday chaired a review meeting to evaluate the saturation status of Individual Beneficiary Schemes across Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting focused on progress under flagship programs such as UMEED, Mahila Kisan Sashaktikaran Pariyojana (MKSP), MGNREGA, Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana–Gramin (PMAY-G), Swachh Bharat Mission–Gramin (SBM-G), Startup Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP), and HIMAYAT.
Attended by officials including Director General of Rural Sanitation Anoo Malhotra, Mission Director JKRLM Dr. Shubhra Sharma, COO HIMAYAT Rajneesh Gupta, Joint Director Planning Kamal Kumar Sharma, and Additional Secretary Waseem Raja, the meeting emphasized the importance of robust monitoring and evidence-based planning. The Secretary directed officers to develop a comprehensive reporting framework capturing current status, achievements, targets, and future projections, basing planning on field realities.
He instructed for detailed, scheme-wise, and district-wise achievement reports, including comparative progress since April 2026, and urged updates to saturation targets to reflect latest achievements. The Secretary also emphasized including key indicators like the Lakhpati Didi initiative in reports.
Progress under UMEED shows that 96,595 SHGs have been formed, mobilizing over 8.10 lakh households, thus empowering women-led economic activities. For MKSP, all 176 DPRs for Integrated Farming Clusters are completed, covering over 51,000 SHG households. Under HIMAYAT, more than 35,700 youth have been trained, with 1,700 trained under the new phase. MGNREGA generated 444.39 lakh person-days, nearly meeting annual targets.
Progress in housing and sanitation is notable, with over 3.24 lakh houses completed under PMAY-G and full saturation achieved in ODF Plus Villages and IHHLs. SVEP continues to support rural entrepreneurs. The Secretary urged inclusion of explanatory notes for data clarity, strengthening field monitoring, and incorporating feedback to ensure the achievement of development goals across Jammu and Kashmir.
