Thousands of devotees participate
KANGAN: The 130th annual Urs of revered Sufi saint Hazrat Mian Nizam-ud-Din Kiyani (RA) is being observed with great religious fervour and devotion at Baba Nagri Wangath in Kangan area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, with thousands of devotees from across Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country converging at the shrine.
The two-day annual congregation commenced on Saturday and has witnessed a massive influx of pilgrims who have arrived to pay obeisance at the revered shrine and seek blessings. Devotees from Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Jammu, Udhampur, Bandipora, Anantnag and several other districts, besides visitors from outside Jammu and Kashmir, have reached Baba Nagri to participate in the spiritual gathering.
The shrine complex has remained abuzz with religious activities, including recitation of the Holy Quran, Zikr, prayers and spiritual discourses. Religious scholars and Islamic preachers are addressing gatherings and highlighting the teachings, spiritual legacy and message of peace, brotherhood and humanity propagated by Hazrat Mian Nizam-ud-Din Kiyani (RA).
The concluding day of the Urs will be observed on Monday, June 8, when special prayers and religious congregations will be held. Islamic scholars and prominent religious personalities are scheduled to deliver sermons focusing on Islamic values and the life and teachings of the revered saint.
The Urs will culminate with a special Dua to be led by Sajada Nasheen Baba Ji Sahab Larvi, Mian Altaf Ahmad, who is expected to pray for peace, prosperity, communal harmony and the well-being of the people.
Devotees described the annual Urs as a unique spiritual gathering that promotes unity and strengthens bonds among people from different regions and communities. Many pilgrims expressed their deep faith and attachment to Baba Nagri, stating that participation in the Urs provides spiritual solace and an opportunity for self-reflection.
Meanwhile, the district administration, police, health department and volunteers have made elaborate arrangements to facilitate the smooth conduct of the annual event and ensure the comfort and safety of the large number of devotees visiting the shrine.
The annual Urs at Baba Nagri is regarded as one of Kashmir’s most significant spiritual gatherings, attracting thousands of followers every year and keeping alive the teachings and legacy of Hazrat Mian Nizam-ud-Din Kiyani (RA).
