Crackdown on drug mafia in Anantnag; 4 held

ANANTNAG: Police in Anantnag have achieved a significant breakthrough in their ongoing fight against drug trafficking and illegal cultivation. In a major operation, authorities registered six NDPS cases in just one day, leading to the arrest of four suspects, recovery of large quantities of contraband, and destruction of illegal poppy crops.
During routine checks, police seized 1.134 kg of charas from Mohsin Irshad Want at Sarnal Bala near High Ground Crossing, and 88 grams from Junaid Ahmad Khan at Pazalpora. Additionally, Shakeel Ahmad Khan was apprehended near Wantrag Road with 205 grams of charas, and Umar Qadir Sheikh was caught near Batbagh with 54 grams of similar substance. These swift actions reflect the police’s dedication to curbing narcotics trade.
In another positive development, authorities took decisive action against illegal poppy cultivation. The fields of Gh. Qadir Wagay in Achabal and unknown persons in Khokharpora Adhal were destroyed on-site in the presence of officials, with samples collected for forensic examination. FIRs have been registered, and investigations are ongoing to identify those involved.
