Srinagar: Srinagar Police, in a strong move against drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, has demolished an illegal three-storeyed residential structure valued at approximately Rs 2 crore.
The building belonged to notorious drug peddler Sheikh Tasaduq, son of Gh. Mohammad Sheikh of Mumkhan Mohalla, Rainawari, Srinagar, and was constructed on encroached government land, a police spokesperson said.
This action was carried out in coordination with the Revenue Department after a thorough investigation revealed that the structure was raised using proceeds from illicit narcotics trafficking. Sheikh Tasaduq is involved in multiple NDPS cases, including FIR No. 112/2019 and FIR No. 81/2023, while his spouse, Sheikh Maroofa, is also implicated in FIR No. 217/2025.
The investigation confirmed that the property was illegally acquired and represented the financial gains from drug-related activities, constituting an unauthorized encroachment on state land. The demolition was carried out legally and transparently in the presence of revenue officials, with valuable government land recovered from illegal occupation.
Meanwhile, police in Awantipora, in coordination with the civil administration, demolished an illegally constructed commercial property comprising two shops and a cowshed belonging to a notorious drug peddler, Nisar Ahmad Khanday son of Ghulam Hassan Khanday resident of Katipora, Chersoo.
The demolition was carried out in the presence of the Tehsildar Awantipora, other revenue officials, and police officers after following due legal procedures.
The accused has been involved in multiple NDPS cases and is a known offender involved in narcotics related activities.
The action reflects the firm resolve of Police and the district administration to take stringent measures against drug peddlers and dismantle assets and infrastructure associated with narcotics related activities.
These decisive actions underscore the police’s commitment to dismantling the financial backbone of drug networks and ensuring that proceeds of crime are not converted into unlawful assets. J&K Police remains dedicated to eradicating drugs from society and urges public support in building a drug-free Jammu & Kashmir.
