Promotes ‘Yes to Sports, No to Drugs’ message
SRINAGAR: The Baramulla Volleyball Championship 2026 culminated with great splendour and success at the Showkat Ali Indoor Stadium, Baramulla, marking the conclusion of a spirited sporting spectacle that celebrated athletic excellence, youth empowerment, and community solidarity, with vibrant participation from 32 men’s and women’s teams representing various corners of the district.
Jointly organised by the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army and the District Sports Council, the championship unfolded in two phases from April 4 to June 4, 2026, transforming into a remarkable confluence of sporting brilliance, enthusiastic public engagement, and inspiring displays of talent and determination.
In the men’s category, Amargarh Volleyball Club emerged victorious to claim the coveted championship title, while Khelo India Centre Volleyball Club secured top honours in the women’s division after an equally compelling display of skill and resilience.
Held under the inspiring theme “Wadi-e-Tarjuman – Baramulla Youth Says Yes to Sports, No to Drugs,” the championship was organised in support of the Nasha-Mukt Abhiyan, reinforcing a powerful message of social responsibility and constructive youth engagement. Through the universal language of sports, the initiative sought to channel youthful energy towards discipline, healthy living, and meaningful participation in nation-building.
The grand finale was graced by senior civil dignitaries, sports officials, educationists, and enthusiastic students, whose presence added prestige to the occasion. The distinguished guests lauded the collaborative efforts aimed at nurturing sporting culture and creating avenues for the holistic development of youth in the Valley.
