SRINAGAR: Continuing its sustained drive against drug menace under Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, police in Ganderbal apprehended a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession in the jurisdiction of Police Post Nagbal.
A police party of Police Post Nagbal at a checkpoint established at Dignibal near the Old Water Supply Scheme, Bakura intercepted a suspicious person. During checking, Bhung Patri Powder (Ganja-like substance) was recovered from his possession. Subsequently, the accused identified as Abrar Ahmad Parray son of Mohd Ismail Parray resident of Nagbal Ganderbal has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal and further investigation has been taken up.
Police remains committed towards eradicating the menace of drugs from society and seeks continued cooperation from the general public in this endeavour.
Continuing its crackdown against drug-related activities, police in Ganderbal detected and destroyed an illicit Poppy Cultivation during routine patrolling in village Wandhama, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Lar.
During the operation, a patch of land was found cultivated with poppy straw-like plants. Preliminary enquiry revealed that the land was in possession of Muzaffar Ahmad Koul son of Abdul Gaffar Koul resident of Wandhama, who had allegedly cultivated the Contraband Crop.
Accordingly, a Case FIR No. 16/2026, under relevant sections of the NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Lar, and further investigation is underway.
Police reiterates its commitment to eradicating the menace of drugs and urges the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to illegal activities.
