Srinagar: In a proactive move to enhance surveillance and ensure strict adherence to court directives, police in Anantnag have installed a GPS-enabled anklet on accused Aejaz Ahmad Tantray, son of Manzoor Ahmad Tantray, a resident of Kapran Verinag, involved in an NDPS case. The anklet was affixed in accordance with the court’s directions as a condition of bail, allowing continuous real-time tracking of the accused’s movements.
The GPS anklet is a wearable electronic device secured around the ankle, designed to provide real-time location data to authorities, thereby ensuring the accused complies with bail conditions and remains under constant watch, a police spokesperson said.
According to case details, the accused is involved in FIR No. 49/2026 registered under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Dooru. Following the court’s orders, Anantnag Police installed the device to reinforce accountability and bolster efforts against drug trafficking and substance abuse.
