Addresses Asluk Aalav Social Transformation event in Sopore
SOPORE: Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperson Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi on Monday addressed the Asluk Aalav (The Call for Truth) public discourse series in Sopore as Chief Guest, stating that drugs are as dangerous as guns for society and that just as society supported the government in curbing terrorism, it must now support the government in eliminating the drug menace from Jammu and Kashmir.
The event, organised by the Jammu & Kashmir Development Foundation and attended by BJP General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul, Bilal Parray, Molvi Waseem Ahmad, Maulana Agha Abbas Rizvi, Advocate Tabassum Rehman, media personality Sahil Muzaffar, Dr Nazrul Islam, Dr Farida, Raja Waqar, and others, focused on social transformation.
Dr Andrabi said that this holy land of spirituality has been attacked first by guns which killed innocents for decades, and now by drugs which are silently killing our youth. “Drugs are as dangerous as the guns for the society. We supported the government in curbing terrorism; now we have to support the government in eliminating the drug menace from J&K,” she said.
She thanked the Asluk Aalav organisers for continuously organising events throughout the valley for social transformation, covering discourses about environmental awareness, Swadeshi promotion, and reinculcating moral values among the youth. She also thanked the think-tank, especially Ashok Koul, for inspiring this programme series.
“Responsible people of society from all walks of life have to significantly and actively contribute for social change so that our youth get a conducive positive environment required for their growth and development. Moral impurities injected into this society as a ploy against us by our enemies are like diseases which we have to cure on priority,” said Andrabi.
She hailed the mega initiative of Drug-Free Jammu & Kashmir by the Lieutenant Governor and said that the huge public support for this campaign has built a very positive environment across the entire Union Territory.
