GANDERBAL: Continuing its series of programs focused on raising awareness about drug abuse, social issues, and moral values, the AslukAalav (The Call for the Truth) event was organized at Government Degree College Ganderbal by Al-Rahim Trust, in collaboration with various NGOs working towards social transformation in Jammu and Kashmir.

The event saw the participation of prominent dignitaries, including BJP General Secretary Organization Ashok Koul, Molvi Owais Qadri, Assistant Development Commissioner Ganderbal Dr. Salahuddin, Dr. Abdul Ahad Makhdoomi, Chairman of Al-Rahim Trust Nazir Gulkari, Chairman of Helping Hands Organization Omar Wani, social activist Syed Aijaz Kashani, Dr. Towseef Mustafa, Merajuddin Buja, GR Hami, and others. Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperson Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi was the special guest at the event.

In her address, Dr. Andrabi expressed her gratitude to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially the youth, for their unwavering support of the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan initiated and led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. She emphasized that the collective effort of the society has played a crucial role in fostering peace and progress in the region. “We all supported the peace initiatives of the government after 2019, and that is why we are now enjoying a peaceful and progressive life filled with dreams and aspirations,” she remarked.

Dr. Andrabi highlighted that eradicating the drug menace remains an unfinished goal for all of us, vital for ensuring lasting peace and prosperity for the younger generation. She praised the police administration for their strict actions against drug peddlers and traffickers but underscored that even stronger measures are needed to dismantle the powerful drug syndicates operating in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Breaking the backbone of these drug networks requires not only law enforcement but also social measures,” she said. “We must consider imposing strict social punishments on those involved in destroying our youth—such as social boycott—because ostracizing those engaged in drug trade and trafficking can serve as a highly effective deterrent.”

Dr. Andrabi’s remarks underscore the importance of a unified, persistent approach involving both legal action and societal responsibility to combat drug abuse. She reaffirmed her belief that a collective, consistent effort by all segments of society is essential to realize the dream of a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.

The event aimed to galvanize community involvement and strengthen the resolve to eliminate drugs from society, emphasizing that sustained cooperation and social accountability are key to building a safer, healthier future for the region’s youth.
