HAJIN: The General Council of Halqa-e-Adab Sonawari (HAS), one of the oldest literary organisations in Kashmir, held its General Council meeting here on Sunday to deliberate on its activities and outline programmes for the current year.
During the meeting, members discussed various organisational matters and unanimously decided to organise a series of grand literary events during the course of this year.
The council also resolved to conduct essay competitions in the Kashmiri language, in line with previous years, as part of its continued efforts to promote the region’s linguistic and literary heritage.
Mehfil-e-Mushaira was also held in which poets including Sagar Sarafraz, Majeed Majazi, Nazir Javid, Farooq Ateeb, Tanveer Maqbool and Nisar-ul-Kareem presented their poetry.
The meeting was chaired by HAS president Shakir Shafi and attended by members of the organisation.
