SRINAGAR: The Jammu & Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Tuesday held its Annual Organisational Meeting, with participation from the Central Working Committee (CWC), Advisory Board, and national office bearers from across the country. The meeting was chaired by National Chairman Mushtaq Ahmad and witnessed the presence of key functionaries, including members of the Advisory Board.
Detailed deliberations were held on the current scenario and the wide range of challenges faced by Kashmiri students studying outside the Valley. These included concerns related to safety, accommodation, discrimination, academic stress, and access to opportunities. Members also reviewed the Association’s ongoing initiatives, including student assistance programmes, emergency response mechanisms, and advocacy efforts at institutional and governmental levels, the JKSA said in a statement issued here.
The CWC and Advisory Board discussed measures to strengthen the organisational structure, expand outreach, and improve coordination among units across states. Emphasis was laid on building a more responsive and robust support system to ensure timely assistance to students in distress. The Association also resolved to deepen its grassroots presence by strengthening state and university units, while enhancing engagement with policymakers, educational institutions, and civil society organisations.
The meeting also deliberated on evolving effective mechanisms with the Centre government and emphasised the need for more constructive engagement to address student issues on merit. Members stressed the importance of frequent and sustained coordination with relevant authorities to ensure timely redressal of grievances.
Chairing the meeting, Mushtaq Ahmad underscored the need for unity, discipline, and collective responsibility within the organisation. He urged all CWC members, Advisory Board members, and the national team to work cooperatively and adhere to organisational decisions in both letter and spirit. He reiterated that the Association has consistently stood at the forefront in defending the rights and dignity of Kashmiri students and will continue its efforts with the same commitment.
Advisory Board members shared valuable insights and strategic guidance, encouraging the Association to further institutionalise its efforts and adopt a more structured and sustainable approach. On the occasion, the Association also announced the launch of its Membership Drive for 2026, aimed at strengthening its grassroots network and expanding its presence across educational institutions nationwide.
