BARAMULLA: Police in Sopore have swiftly solved a theft case within 24 hours of reporting, resulting in the recovery of stolen property and the arrest of two suspects.
Police Post Putkha received a complaint from Shabir Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Hassan Wani, resident of Krankshivan Sopore, stating that during the intervening night of April 5/6, his workshop at Putkha was burgled, and items including a genset and an oxygen cylinder were stolen. A case was registered at Police Station Tarzoo (FIR No. 50/2026), and an investigation was launched.
During the investigation, two suspects—Kaiser Ahmad Malik, son of Abdul Qayoom Malik, and Jehangir Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Gani Mir, both residents of BangdaraChoora—were identified and apprehended. Upon sustained interrogation, the suspects confessed to the theft, leading to the recovery of the stolen property.
Further inquiries are ongoing to determine if they are involved in other crimes.
The police reaffirm their commitment to public safety and swift action against criminal activities.
