SRINAGAR: Demonstrating its unwavering commitment to combat the drug menace, J&K Police have made significant arrests and recovered contraband substances in separate operations across Sopore and Pulwama.
In Sopore, a police team from Police Post Fruit Mandi conducted naka checking at Fruit Mandi Crossing. They intercepted a suspicious individual, who was identified as Sameem Javaid Shah, son of Javaid Ahmad Shah of Neharpora Sopore. During a thorough search, police recovered bottles of Codeine Phosphate and a charas-like substance. The person was detained, and FIR No. 72/2026 has been registered at Police Station Sopore. The investigation aims to trace the source and uncover wider linkages involved in the drug trade. J&K Police have reaffirmed their zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking, emphasizing their ongoing efforts to protect youth and society from drugs.
Meanwhile, in Pulwama, police at a checkpoint near Circular Road, Gangoo Crossing, intercepted a suspicious individual. During the search, approximately 392 grams of charas-like substance, concealed in a polythene bag, was recovered from Vikas Ahmad Lone, son of Mohd Yousuf Lone of Puchal. FIR No. 48/2026 has been registered at Police Station Pulwama, and further investigation is underway.
