Bandipor: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Bandipora Police on Thursday attached an immovable property belonging to a notorious drug peddler in Ward No. 5, Sheikh Mohalla, under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985.

The attached property is a three-storey residential house with an attic, owned by Mohd Shafi Sheikh, son of Mohd Shahbaz Sheikh, a resident of Sheikh Mohalla, Bandipora.
Police said the accused is involved in multiple NDPS cases registered at Police Station Bandipora, including FIR No. 110/2022 and FIR No. 183/2022, both under Sections 8/20 and 29 of the NDPS Act.
During investigation and enquiry, the property was identified as illegally acquired and prima facie found to have been constructed using proceeds from illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
Officials said the accused had earlier been detained under the PIT-NDPS Act and lodged in Kot Bhalwal Jail, Jammu, and has since been released.
Police stated that the attachment of property forms part of a sustained drive to dismantle the financial networks of drug peddlers and curb the menace of narcotics in the district.
Bandipora Police reiterated its commitment to continue strict action against drug traffickers and to protect the youth from the growing threat of narcotics.
