BANDIPORA: Authorities on Wednesday ordered the closure of the Sumbal–Chewa Road at Narinara in Bandipora district from February 6 in view of ongoing works in the area.
The Executive Engineer, Roads and Buildings (R&B) Division Sumbal, said the step has been taken in the interest of public safety and to facilitate smooth execution of the project.
“There is no alternative but to close the road temporarily as the work being executed poses a risk to commuters,” an official said.
Commuters have been advised to use alternative routes during the closure period and cooperate with the authorities.
The department regretted the inconvenience caused and said that traffic movement will be restored once the work is completed.
