Student Special – Year 2026: A New Phase Of My Life

Must read

‘Living with faith in a noisy world’

Mudabira Javid

The year 2026 marks the beginning of a new phase in my life—a phase of deep reflection shaped by what I witnessed on the 1st of January at Gulmarg. On that day, large crowds gathered to celebrate the New Year with loud music and public dancing. Instead of joy, the scene filled my heart with fear and uneasiness.
From an Islamic perspective, such open celebrations felt disconnected from the remembrance of Allah and raised serious concerns about modesty, morality, and the direction in which society is moving. Islam teaches that life is a test, and every action—whether public or private—will be accounted for on the Day of Judgment.
True happiness, according to Islam, is not found in temporary pleasure but in obedience to Allah, gratitude, and living within the limits He has set. This experience made me realise that silence in the face of moral decline can slowly turn into acceptance. A believer has a responsibility to remain conscious and firm in faith, even when society chooses a different path. This moment became a turning point that pushed me toward self-accountability, prayer, and a more purposeful way of living. It reminded me that time is a trust, youth is a responsibility, and guidance is a continuous journey.
Entering this new phase of life, I have understood that true change begins within the heart. External actions only hold value when they are rooted in sincere intention. Islam teaches that Allah does not look at appearances, but at hearts and deeds, and this reminder urges me to constantly purify my inner self.
The distractions of modern life often make us forget our true purpose. Entertainment, trends, and social pressure pull hearts away from remembrance. This realisation encouraged me to be mindful of what I see, hear, and follow—ensuring that my choices strengthen rather than weaken my faith.
I now recognise that time is one of the greatest blessings from Allah. Every passing moment is an opportunity either to draw closer to Him or to drift away. Time wasted in heedlessness is a loss that can never be recovered, so I strive to live with discipline and purpose.
Islam teaches balance between this world and the Hereafter. Enjoying halal blessings is allowed, but excess and neglect of spiritual duties lead to emptiness. True contentment comes when the heart remains connected to Allah.
I have also realised the importance of good companionship. Being surrounded by people who remind us of Allah strengthens faith, while bad company slowly weakens it. Choosing righteous friends is not merely a social choice but a spiritual responsibility.
Patience has become a key lesson for me. Holding onto Islamic values in a society that often ignores modesty is not easy, but Islam teaches that patience during trials brings great reward and elevates a believer’s rank.
This journey has taught me humility. Guidance is a gift from Allah, not a personal achievement. Without His mercy, hearts can easily stray, and this understanding keeps me grateful and grounded.
I now strive to be consistent in my actions, whether in public or private. True faith is reflected in sincerity when no one is watching, for Allah is always aware.
Looking ahead, my goal is not perfection but continuous improvement. Every mistake is a chance to return to Allah through repentance, and His door of mercy is always open.
As I move forward, I realise that living with faith requires courage—courage to say no when others say yes, courage to remain modest when immodesty is normalised, and courage to prioritise the Hereafter over short-lived pleasures. Islam teaches believers to stand firm even when the path feels lonely, because Allah’s support is always with those who remain steadfast.
I reflect deeply on the responsibility of youth. Youth is not merely a phase of enjoyment but a trust given by Allah. Its strength, energy, and time should be invested in building character, seeking knowledge, and serving society in a righteous way. When youth are guided by faith, it becomes a powerful force for positive change.
This journey has strengthened my relationship with prayer. Salah has become more than an obligation; it has become a refuge. In prayer, I find peace, clarity, and relief from the confusion of the world. No matter how loud society becomes, the connection between a servant and Allah remains silent, personal, and powerful.
I have learned that repentance is one of Allah’s greatest gifts. Humans are imperfect, but Allah’s mercy is far greater than our sins. Turning back to Him with sincerity brings light to the heart and renews hope.
I now see life itself as a classroom where every event carries a lesson. Happiness teaches gratitude, hardship teaches patience, and loss teaches reliance on Allah alone. Islam prepares the believer to face every situation with balance, knowing that nothing happens without divine wisdom.
I have learned that silence can be worship when it protects dignity, and speech can be worship when it spreads truth. Guarding the tongue is a discipline that strengthens faith.
Intentions now guide my actions. Even simple daily routines become acts of worship when performed sincerely for Allah. Remembering death brings clarity rather than fear, reminding me that this world is temporary and that what truly matters is what we carry to the Hereafter.
Islamic character is not proven during ease but during difficulty—when anger is controlled, forgiveness replaces revenge, and humility overcomes arrogance.
Knowledge has become a priority in my life. Islam encourages seeking knowledge from cradle to grave, and through learning, faith becomes stronger while doubts become weaker. Gratitude, too, protects blessings; when Allah’s favours are acknowledged, they increase.
The awareness of accountability now guides my decisions. Knowing that every deed and intention is recorded helps me live responsibly, even when no one else is watching. I have learned that true freedom lies in obedience to Allah. While the world promises freedom through desire, Islam grants freedom through discipline and peace of the soul.
With every passing day, I aim to strengthen my relationship with the Qur’an—not merely to read it, but to live by it. Ultimately, my journey is one of hope: hope in Allah’s mercy, hope in His guidance, and hope that sincere effort is never wasted.
As this new chapter unfolds, my constant prayer remains that Allah guides me, protects my heart from deviation, strengthens my Eemaan, forgives my shortcomings, and grants me a life that pleases Him, a death upon faith, and eternal success in the Hereafter.
