Srinagar: In a significant series of operations aimed at dismantling the “terror ecosystem” linked to the banned organisation Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), police across multiple districts in Jammu and Kashmir conducted coordinated raids and searches targeting JeI members, their premises, and associated institutions.
In Awantipora, police carried out extensive raids at various locations within the district, including residences of JeI members and their associates. “During these operations, incriminating materials, digital devices, and documents were recovered, and several individuals were questioned and detained under applicable laws,” a police spokesperson said in a statement issued here.
Similarly, in Anantnag, police targeted multiple locations connected to JeI, reaffirming their commitment to dismantling the organisation’s support network and maintaining peace and order in the district, he said.
In Handwara, police acted on credible intelligence to raid Jamia Islamia Institute, Waripora. Electronic devices seized during the operation are being examined to verify any links with JeI or other unlawful activities.
In Budgam, searches were conducted in Chadoora, Soibugh, and Beerwah areas at residences and institutes linked to JeI. Electronic gadgets and documents were seized from these locations, aiming to curb separatist propaganda and anti-national activities, the spokesperson said.
In Kulgam, police executed meticulously coordinated searches at multiple sites, recovering a significant quantity of electronic gadgets, literature, and documents relevant to ongoing investigations. All materials were seized for detailed analysis, he said.
In Pulwama, searches were carried out early morning at various locations associated with JeI, accompanied by magistrates and witnesses. “No incriminating material was found during these operations, which are part of ongoing efforts to prevent radicalization and maintain peace,” police said.
In Shopian, police conducted large-scale, well-coordinated searches targeting individuals and premises linked to JeI, proscribed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). “The operation aimed to identify and neutralize networks attempting to covertly revive banned activities. Electronic gadgets and documents suspected to have relevance to clandestine operations were seized for forensic examination,” the statement said.
