SRINAGAR: As part of an initiative to review the functioning of various departments across District Bandipora, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Indu Kanwal Chib (JKAS), on Friday visited KVK Bandipora-1.
During the visit, the District Development Commissioner interacted with the scientists and staff of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra to assess the progress of ongoing activities, research initiatives, and extension programmes being carried out for the benefit of the farming community. She appreciated the efforts of KVK Bandipora-1 in implementing diverse technologies and farmer-oriented interventions across the district.
Chib also visited the KVK farm, where she personally experienced lotus stem harvesting, a significant crop of the region. The scientists briefed her about the cultivation practices, value addition opportunities, and potential for livelihood enhancement through lotus stem production.
A wide range of KVK products, innovations, and technological inputs were showcased during the visit, highlighting the centre’s commitment to promoting modern agricultural practices and improving farmers’ income.
The visit concluded with the DDC acknowledging the contributions of KVK Bandipora-1 and assuring continued support for strengthening agricultural development and outreach in the district.
